The Friends & Family of Jeffrey Hodgson
The group
The Friends & Family of Jeffrey Hodgson were a group of people
dedicated to prolonging the search for Jeffrey Hodgson until he was
found. It comprised a core team of family and friends based in
Stockport, supported by hundreds of people based far and wide who knew
Jeffrey well.
The Family and Friends of Jeffrey recognised this support and are
very grateful to all concerned.
Aims of the group
The aims of the group were as follows:-
- To promote the continuation of the search in Ibiza and
neighbouring Islands for Jeffrey by making representations to the
British and Spanish Govermments.
- To keep the story alive in the media to promote awareness of
Jeffrey`s disappearance in the hope that information as to his
whereabouts would be forthcoming.
- To try to establish any sightings of Jeff since the evening of
his disappearance on Sunday 8 July 2001.
- To visit Ibiza regularly to check the actual progress of the
investigation and conduct further targeted searches.
- To promote fundraising activities to cover the costs of
publicity, administration and travel to lead ultimately to Jeffrey's
recovery.
How you helped
- People registered with the family as a friend of Jeffrey Hodgson
giving their name, address, telephone or E-mail details so that
further information and activities could be sent to you.
- They wrote to the Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, and the Spanish
Ambassador in London asking for progress information and what action
the British and Spanish Governments are taking to further the search
for Jeffrey Hodgson (see Contacts for
addresses) by downloading a Microsoft Word template of a letter to
Jack Straw, click
here.
- They wrote to their own MP`s informing them of their concerns as
a friend of Jeffrey Hodgson and requesting that they too make
enquiries at the Foreign Office.
- They made all of their friends and relatives aware of this
website by sending details of it to everyone in their address lists
and asking them too to pass it on. The more people aware of the
situation, the better the chance that Jeffrey may have been found.
- If they were visiting (or knew someone who was visiting) Ibiza,
the neighbouring islands or Benidorm, they watched out for Jeffrey,
checked their photos and home videos for his image. People helped us
by being our eyes and ears and by being familiar with
Jeffrey's description.
